Over the last eight years, CelebrAsian, the Asian Heritage Festival has been the largest and fastest growing Asian American event in the State of Iowa. It has grown from 10,000 attendees to over 40,000 drawing people from throughout and outside of Iowa making it one of Iowa's premier festivals annually. Organized and executed almost completely by volunteers, it is made possible through the generous support of individuals, businesses, non-profits and corporations. Sign-up today to be a vendor or non-profit exhibitor for the 9th Annual CelebrAsian: Asian Heritage Festival! This year's expected attendance is 45,000 - 50,000 people!! Register before March 18, 2011 and receive an early bird discount!
In order to qualify to be a vendor, you must satisfy one of the following two criteria:
1. Food/Drink Vendor: Primary Food or Drink being served must be Asian.
2. Non-Asian Related Non Food/Drink Vendor: Must be a business member of the Iowa Asian Alliance.
When registering, you may state your preference as to what Village you would like to be placed in (Vietnamese, Indian, Hmong etc.), however, we reserve the right to place you where necessary depending on availability. Each vendor will receive a 10 x 10 tent, 1 table and 2 chairs.
The deadline to register for the 2011 CelebrAsian is April 15, 2011. Vendor fees are as follows:

Join the team and the CelebrAsian..! Whether you would like to join one of our many planning committees or just show-up on the day of the Festival, we'd like to hear from you. To express your interest in becoming a volunteer, please follow the link below. Volunteers will be accepted on an ongoing and as needed basis. If we are unable to accommodate your interest this year, your information will be kept for future festivals and volunteer opportunities with the Iowa Asian Alliance.

The CelebrAsian is happy to announce the Second Annual Takraw Tournament. We are pleased to assist Iowa Takraw Foundation in preserving this ancient, traditional and cultural Asian sport and add some kicks to the Asian Heritage Festival in Des Moines, IA. Amateur teams will compete for trophies and cash prizes. Demonstrations will be held at 4:00 P.M. - 4:30 P.M.

A tradition at CelebrAsian, volleyball teams across the US come to compete for trophy and cash prizes of $1,000 (1st Place) and $500 (2nd Place) alongside several other festival activities.
The tournament will be played in double elimination format, abiding by past, non-NCAA rules, with all games being played to the best of three (winner two out of three advances). A list of rules will be distributed to team captains before the tournament. Fighting will not be tolerated. Teams and players caught fighting will be disqualified. NO EXCEPTIONS. ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS. Teams that are registered are expected to show up and play; the tournament is open to amateur players only; no collegiate or ex-collegiate, pro or ex-pro players are allowed.
The registration fee is $100 per team and the online registration will be closed on May 12, 2011.

You can sign up and register in two ways:
1. Register online (Recommended!), OR
2. on location registration with a prior email notification to: entertainment@iowaasianalliance.com (at least 24 hours in advance)
Judging will be based on the following criteria:
1. Showmanship. Are you truly SensAsianal?
2. Technical ability - execution, technique, synchronization, and control. How polish/professional is your act?
3. Self-Expression - your ability to be at ease/confident on stage. Can your individuality outshine the competition?

* Adequate space and a CD/MP3 player will be provided at auditions. It is the contestant's responsibility to provide his or her own working music on a CD or MP3 player. The contestant(s) should also provide any additional items/props needed for auditions. Please notify the entertainment committee about what you will be using prior to auditions.
* All contestants must sign IAA's Acknowledgement of Risk before auditioning.
* All contestants under the age of 18 must have signed forms (Acknowledgement of Risk & Registration forms) by a parent or legal guardian before they may audition.
* Contestants must be of an Asian ethnicity or have at least one member from their group of an Asian ethnicity.
After the auditions, judges and/or the entertainment committee will select contestants to advance to the Talent Show which will take place on the day of the festival May 14, 2011 on the stage. Advancing contestants will be contacted within one week.
